Joe Schmit, President was in broadcasting for 28 years first as a sports anchor than news anchor prior to joining Petters Media Group in 2006. He won thirteen Emmys Awards from the National Television Academy in his 28-year broadcasting career.  He was also honored with a National Headliner Award for coverage of the 2001 death of Minnesota Viking Kory Stringer.

A Long-Time Youth Mentor While committed to supporting a number of youth based community organizations, Big Brothers and Sisters is at the top of Joe's list. He is a current board member and past president of the Big Brothers and Sisters of Greater Minneapolis . Since 1991, he has helped raise over $3 million for the organization through his annual Joe Schmit Celebrity Golf Tournament. In 2000, Mr. Schmit was the winner of the Jim Kelly Distinguished Service Award from Big Brothers and Big Sisters and in 2001, a winner of the Odyssey Award for commitment to youth mentorship. Joe was also honored as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF) Community Leader of the Year in 2005.

He is past president and board member of the Fairway Foundation and has contributed time to other charitable organizations including the Minneapolis Crisis Nursery, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Children's Miracle Network, Alzheimer's Association, the Minnesota Special Olympics and the American Red Cross. He is also a part of the United Way 's Speakers Bureau for both Minneapolis and St. Paul on is currently on the Pacer Advisory Board.

Bill Dunlap, Strategic Partner started his career at Proctor & Gamble in 1960, rising to the position of Director of P&G’s New Product Development unit. He moved to the public sector in 1970, becoming the youngest Assistant Postmaster General in U.S. history.

After five years with the U.S. Postal Service, Mr. Dunlap returned to advertising, serving as management consultant to MCA Corporation and later as head of MCA Advertising in New York.

In 1981, Mr. Dunlap was named president of Campbell Mithun, a national marketing communications agency, becoming Chief Executive Officer of the agency two years later, and Chairman in 1994.

During the two decades that Mr. Dunlap was at the helm of Campbell Mithun, the agency grew fivefold, to billings of more than $1 billion.  He was instrumental in managing the agency’s expansion into U.S. markets beyond its Minneapolis headquarters, and into additional marketing communications services such as new product development, Hispanic marketing, graphic identity and package design.

Mr. Dunlap’s commitment to Campbell Mithun was matched by his dedication to business and community.  He has served on numerous boards and steering committees for various business and social services organizations, including the Minnesota Business partnership, Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce, United Way and Hazelden Foundation. 

Mr. Dunlap joined Petters Group Worldwide in 2003 as a Strategic Advisor and was named Chairman of the Petters Media Group in 2006. He has played an active role in the acquisition of Polaroid and Sun Country Airlines and serves on many boards.

 

Scott Meyer, Strategic Partner has provided marketing counsel and business strategy to a broad range of companies worldwide. Prior to joining Petters Media Group, Mr. Meyer was chief marketing officer of Lawson Software, responsible for driving demand and building the reputation and brand for one of the leading developers of business application software. In this role, he oversaw business strategy, corporate and product marketing, human resources, organization development, strategic partnerships, advertising, public relations, direct marketing, trade shows, employee communications and community relations.

With more than 30 years in marketing, Mr. Meyer has developed an international reputation as a communications strategist. He has served as Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer of Weber Shandwick Worldwide, and Chief Executive Officer of its predecessor company, Shandwick International.  His experience ranges from setting communications strategy for Fortune 500 clients … to reorganizing the executive structure of the NCAA … to saving a leading HMO … to counseling the FBI. Mr. Meyer has a diverse background as a corporate manager, entrepreneur, educator and leader. He has a unique understanding of marketing, brand management, leadership development, organization architecture and development, constituency engagement and the ability to motivate audiences. His specialty is helping organizations create opportunity and unlock potential. He has worked with a range of clients including Cargill, General Electric, exxonmobil, Microsoft, mastercard, Eastman Kodak, Coca-Cola, Northwest Airlines, NCAA, US Bank, General Motors, Honeywell and mcdonalds.

Mr. Meyer’s background includes corporate experience with Piper Jaffray Companies, International Multifoods, US Bank and Control Data Corporation. He was a founder of the highly respected Minneapolis-based public relations firm, Mona Meyer mcgrath & Gavin.

A journalism graduate of the University of Minnesota, Mr. Meyer is a strong believer in mentoring, having taught on the adjunct journalism faculties at both the University of Minnesota and the University of St. Thomas.
